Dizziness is one of the most frequent symptoms presented to clinicians. Dizziness accounts for one in forty GP consultations and about 4% of Emergency Department (ED) admissions per year in most OECD countries. In Australia that equates to over two million GP consultations per year. In the over 55’s the GP consultation rate for dizziness or vertigo rises to one in eight, and around one in five for women over 85 years. In fact, for women over 50, dizziness is one of the top five disorders requiring a GP consultation and treatment.
